Desert Tranquility

Twenty square metres, three weeks, and a hotel room inspired by the desert.

01 · The brief

A complete room within a 5 × 4 metre footprint.

Studio Meraki was invited, in collaboration with the IIID Delhi Chapter, to design and execute a hotel-room mock-up for India International Hospitality Expo at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. The brief called for a furnished room, ready to receive visitors within three weeks.

The installation served as a prototype for a guest room, bringing custom furniture, lighting and finishes together within the limited floor area.

02 · Atmosphere

A horizon beyond the room

A layered wallscape draws the eye towards a distant horizon. Sand, terracotta, blush, and dusk tones move across it in broad bands, while soft curves repeat through the bed, sofa, tables, mirror, and rugs.

Broad colour bands suggest depth beyond the wall, giving the small room a longer visual perspective.

03 · Guest experience

The bed sets the geometry

The Dune Embrace Bed extends into built-in bedside surfaces. Its curves recur in the lounge seating and low furniture, leaving routes around the pieces in the compact plan.

Timber, upholstery, layered rugs and curtains soften the interior. Localised lighting draws attention to the bedside, seating and mirror.
